Since I haven't been here in a while I thought I ought to update and let you all know I'm still alive and kickin. The best way to sum up the way this last week has been and quite possibly this upcoming week will be was stated perfectly by Mel Brooks in that dynamic comedy Blazing Saddles.....work, work, work, work. With two wings of the hospital floor having to be done by this Wednesday it's been rather hectic and fast paced to say the least. In fact I've gone from three day weekends down to one...today. But hey at least it's over-time and lord knows I could use it. So there you have it, what's been going on with me in a nutshell. And because of the craziness going on right now I'm taking a blog break till next weekend. So till next weekend have a wonderful week.

Oh, I did manage to stop and snap a few quick pic's on the way to work yesterday.....

That's it for now. Later.

Well the Catholic church has done it again by issuing a statement telling it's church goers not to see the movie The DaVinci Code based on the best selling book of the same title. With their actions today the Catholic church may as well have sent the producers a multi-million dollar check. Because now most will flock to the theaters to see the movie. The worst thing you can do if you don't want someone to see something is to tell them they can't see it. If you're like me when I hear that, the first thing I want to do is see the movie just to see why they don't want me to see it. I hadn't read the book and wasn't really planning on seeing the movie, that is until they told me I shouldn't see it, just as I did when the church told us we couldn't watch The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ. Now I have a question for the church officials. Do they really think we are so stupid as to not be able to ascertain that this is only a movie we are watching and not a new doctrine? I mean it's only entertainment...right. Maybe this is why I've drifted away from the church.

That's it for now. Later.

I've been on a sort of blog break this past week and it's likely to extend into next week; mostly because by the time I've gotten home from work my ass has been but a few inches from dragging on the floor. With the job coming down to the wire we've been putting in some long, busy days trying to get done by the end of this month. We've still got a lot to do to get this project finished in the next two weeks. Hell, we still have the sheetrockers on the job and for anybody who knows much about construction you know at this point in the job the drywallers should have been finished and gone long ago. So yeah we have some long hard days ahead of us. Although I do have faith we will get it done. However if we don't, there is one positive in it, my job will last longer. The weekend has helped get me rested up again but as usual it's gone by much to fast and the new work week looms just on the horizon. So until next weekend you all have a good week.
That's it for now. Later.

Haven't posted in a while because, well, I haven't felt like it. In fact I haven't felt like doing much of anything these last few days. Not sure why, I just didn't have any get up and go. The worst of it was yesterday when I just didn't feel like doing anything. I wanted to but it just seemed like a weight had settled down upon me and before I knew it the whole day had wasted away. Who knows maybe it was the drab rainy weather yesterday.

Woke up this morning to the sun shine and found myself feeling somewhat better. I was actually able to get motivated enough to get to out and get my laundry done by nine this morning. This afternoon I decided to get out of the apartment before the walls closed in on me. I took advantage of the cooler weather and went for a walk through an old neighborhood I lived in some time ago. And oh yeah I had my camera with me. Now it's time to get ready for the upcoming work week, of which for a change I'm actually looking forward to.
That's it for now. Later.

As most know already I work in the construction business. Right now we are working on remodeling an entire floor at the hospital on the army base next to town here. Granted I'm just a laborer and not a skilled worker such as a carpenter or plumber, but I like it just the same. Besides without someone to clean up the job site and to do the little odd jobs no one else wants to do where would they be.

One of the reasons I like working construction is the chance to see a project go from nothing to something and come to life. One way to show this is through pictures. The picture below was taken in February looking down a hallway.

And here is a picture of that same hallway as it looks today.

Seeing it come to life and knowing you had a part in it makes one feel pretty good.

Another thing most of you know about me is I like to dabble in the art of photography. Not that I'm an artist by any means, I just like to take pictures. I not only like to take pictures but I also like to try manipulating a certain picture and see what you can come up with. An example of this is the pic below. It is the same picture of the hallway shown above however when turned on its side it now appears as though you are standing at the top looking down a shaft. There are so many aspects to photography, which is why I think I like it so much.

My normally long weekend was shortened by one day when it turned out I worked on Friday. It's not like I was screwed over though as I volunteered to work. I did so because I knew I would be the only one working. Part of my duties include trying to keep the job site clean which is not as easy as it sounds with all the other people, ladders, extension cords and other assorted items in the way. So needless to say I got more done in four and a half hours on Friday then I would on a normal ten hour day. Besides how much better can it get what with no bosses around and the time being overtime.

As for how the rest of the weekend went...well it went. I mean what can you say when the most exciting thing to happen is a trip to the Laundromat to do laundry. I was invited to go to an amusement park in Kansas City with my sister but had to turn her down. No way I could afford the gas to make the trip let alone the excessive admission to the park. So I just stayed here trying to stay cool. Time now to get things ready for the upcoming work week.
That's it for now. Later.

It was another scorcher here today. To say it was hot as hell would be putting it mildly. There was talk not long ago of us going to the metric system here. Right now I'm thinking that's not such a bad idea, at least during the summer that is. After all 42C sounds so much better then 105F. But you know, if given the choice between all this crazy heat and below zero temp's I'll take the heat any day.

Where the hell did this summer go!!

With the beginning of a new week the birthday weekend is now history. So how did it go? Well let's see, I went to my sister's in Topeka like I said I was going to. And the next thing you know we were jetting down the highway towards the big city of Kansas City. Once there we bounced through the clubs like a runaway pinball. Ending up the night somehow managing to find our way back to Topeka. Sounds like the dream birthday, right. It should because that's exactly what it is, a dream, my dream. So yeah that's not it really went down, but it sounds so much more exciting then how the day actually went. So here's what really went on. I did go to Topeka, we did go to Kansas City however instead of clubbin we ended up at my nephew's place where we spent the day helping him move. See, I told you the other was more exciting, but hey, it sure as hell beat the alternative....spending the day alone.
That's it for now. Later.
